Summary

Consequential on the Transport Safety Investigation Bill 2002, the bill: repeals certain provisions of the

Air Navigation Act 1920
and
Navigation Act 1912
concerning aviation and marine safety investigations; and amends the:
Air Services Act 1995
,
Civil Aviation Act 1988
and
Australian Maritime Safety Authority Act 1990
to include cooperation with the Australian Transport Safety Board in the objects of the Acts;
Civil Aviation Act 1988
to protect the confidentiality of cockpit voice recording information; and
Freedom of Information Act 1982
to exempt certain safety information. Also contains transitional arrangements.
